There is no contradiction between performance and efficiency. Audi demonstrates this in the premium segment with its proverbial Vorsprung durch Technik. The modular efficiency programme and Audi's efficiency models embody this responsibility towards our climate and environment.
For years now, Audi has been a technological leader in performance-oriented and, at the same time, fuel-efficient engines. What is more, lightweight aluminium construction lowers the vehicle weight, which in turn reduces consumption and, therefore, CO2 emissions. However, our modular efficiency system defines other fields of technology as well, including aerodynamics, alternative drive concepts, energy management and fuels, not to mention electronic assistance systems.
TDI®TDI®Synonymous with muscular torque delivery and outstanding efficiency: TDI®. Today, TDI® engines are sporty, smooth and economicalTDI® and TFSI®TFSI®Audi was the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbocharging in large-scale car productionTFSI® are the names given to the established core fields of expertise for engine efficiency made by Audi. Highly efficient turbodiesel direct injection (TDI®) produces a clear reduction in CO2 emissions. FSI®FSI®Getting more out of every drop of petrol.FSI® and TFSI® exploit the advantages of direct injection in petrol engines. Both innovations produce higher performance, coupled with around 15 percent less fuel consumption.
The innovative Audi Space FrameAudi Space FrameThe Audi Space Frame is a high-strength aluminium frame structure into which all panels are integrated so that they also perform a load-bearing function.Audi Space Frame ® design incorporates our very latest body technology. The bodyshell of the new Audi TT, for example, weighs in at as little as 206 kg. The saving in weight of up to 100 kg compared with its predecessor lowers fuel consumption by 16 percent. As regards the aerodynamics, Audi continues its long tradition. With a drag coefficient of 0.29, the Audi 100 presented in 1982 came to be regarded for many years as the measure of all things and went down in company history as having the world’s best drag coefficient.
"e" as in efficiency: the Audi A4 Sedan 2.0 TDI® e is particularly efficient at converting fuel into motion. For this diesel model, advanced engine technology based on direct injection is the basis for maximising the operating range on every tank of fuel.
Efficieny: Standard in every Audi. Find out more in our online special
